Project description

Epoch Africa is a platform helping Nigerian undergraduates build their careers early through mentorship, curated opportunities, and community-building initiatives. To scale its impact, Epoch needed a comprehensive website to centralize its programs, educate users, and support long-term engagement.

My Role

As a UX Designer on a cross-functional team, I led the wireframing and layout design efforts for both desktop and mobile platforms. My focus was on ensuring clarity, hierarchy, and a structure that supports growth, education, and action.

Process

Step1. Stakeholder Alignment

Before jumping into wireframes or flows, I first aligned with key stakeholders across the Epoch team to understand their vision, priorities, and expectations for the new website. I gathered feedback on what content users struggled to find and what was missing from the current online presence.

Step2. Defining Key Needs

After aligning with stakeholders and reviewing the current pain points, I worked with the team to define the key needs the new Epoch website had to address. We grounded these needs in three core user personas that reflect our primary audience:

Step3. Wireframing

Leveraged agile development methodologies to build the scheduling app from the ground up. Prioritized feature development based on user feedback and technical feasibility. Implemented AI algorithms to analyze user behavior and optimize scheduling recommendations.

Final Design

We designed a multi-page experience that supports user growth, discovery, and community building:

1. A Unified Landing Page

2. Mentorship Program Portal

3. Opportunity Feed (Prospecta)

Takeaways

This project taught me how to bring clarity to complexity in a real-world environment with tight timelines and a broad feature set. Here’s what I walked away with:

🔑Structured communication is key — Early alignment with stakeholders helped avoid major pivots later.

🤔Designing without formal research is still UX — When you don’t have data, lean into conversation and intuition.

✍Designing for impact means designing for scale — We created a foundation that supports future programs, content, and growth.
